Are You Covered With Golf Tournament Insurance?
golf is becoming an increasingly popular sport worldwide, but it is estimated that there are 27,000 golf injuries every year that require hospital treatment and that millions of dollars worth of equipment is stolen. Yet an independent survey claims that 9 out of 10 golfers have insufficient golf insurance.
Ask yourself this question, could you afford to be sued should you cause damage to third party property or injure an individual with a stray golf ball?
It is important to remember that not all incidents could be the fault of the golf player. There are many golfers on a course at the same time, many being amateurs, as golf is becoming the new up and coming sport and there are new members on the courses that wish to start playing. It is easy for someone to get in the line of fire when you are taking your shot, resulting in a possible injury. Also many golf courses are close to public property, or are surrounded by hotel complexes for instance when abroad, it could be possible to cause damage to such property.
A majority of people wrongly believe that their household contents insurance covers their golfing equipment. In many cases, this is not true. A large quantity of household insurance policies exclude sports equipment and sports injury cover, which means that if anything should occur either on or off the course, you would be held financially responsible.
Reliable coverage against theft, loss or damage to your golfing equipment, damage to property and personal injury is highly important. The fact of the matter is that golf can be a very expensive game if it goes wrong when you dont have the correct insurance cover. Remember, the more golf you play without sufficient insurance, the greater the risk.
All golfers, regardless of ability, run the risk of injuring another person while out on the course playing golf. The last thing you want is to be on the golf course, achieving those pars, birdies and eagles that you long for, but having that uneasy sensation in the back of your mind that you dont have sufficient golf insurance coverage.
So, if you think that your insurance policy provides sufficient protection for your equipment used for golf and public liability cover for golf sport injury, please think again and check the policy wording very carefully;
Does it protect your golf equipment from theft, loss or damage, 24 hours a day, anywhere worldwide;
Does it provide you with cover for playing golf on any golf course or driving range anywhere worldwide;
If you are covered, can you make a claim without adversely affecting your premiums or No Claims Discount;
Does it cover your golf equipment if lost or stolen whilst left unattended?
Very few household policies provide adequate cover and making a claim usually results in a premium increase and a reduction in your No Claims Discount allowance. So remember, if you dont have the correct golf insurance coverage, make sure to check it out!
